Chi Memorial Hospital, part of CommonSpirit Health, is seeking a highly skilled Medical Physicist to join our team in the Department of Radiation Oncology. As a Medical Physicist, you will play a critical role in supporting the technical requirements of planning and treating radiation therapy patients. Your expertise will ensure the safe and effective use of radioisotopes and radiation generating equipment.
Responsibilities
• Assist in the interviewing and selection process of physicists, dosimetrists, and therapists.
• Evaluate and purchase equipment, implementing service contracts and coordinating maintenance with vendors.
• Measure machine outputs and calibrate to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
• Assist in the radiation safety program for external beam therapy and brachytherapy, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines and licensing requirements.
• Receive, log, register, and assume responsibility for radioactive materials, following established protocols.
• Perform room surveys and instruct hospital employees on radiation precautions and self-protection settings.
• Participate in medical conferences and attend meetings to discuss patient and treatment methods.
• Assist in the development and evaluation of new devices, protocols, and equipment changes.
Requirements
• Master's degree in Medical Physics or a related field; Ph.D. in Medical Physics preferred.
• Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or the American Board of Medical Physics in Radiation Physics or the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine.
• Board eligible candidates must attain certification within three years from the date of hire.
