Job Title: Seasonal Courtesy Clerk

At Northgate Markets, we are committed to providing our customers with exceptional service and a positive shopping experience. As a Seasonal Courtesy Clerk, you will play a vital role in ensuring our store runs smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide excellent customer service, responding promptly to customer inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Assist customers with purchases, including carrying out groceries and loading them into their vehicles.
  • Bag customer purchases in accordance with established store procedures.
  • Sort and return-to-stock items (go-backs) back to their normal shelf locations.
  • Perform price check functions and assist in maintaining accurate inventory levels.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized store environment, including sweeping floors and performing other maintenance duties as assigned.
  • Work effectively as part of a team to achieve store goals and objectives.
Requirements:
  • High school education preferred but not required.
  • Ability to perform arithmetical calculations at the eight-grade level to assist in sales transactions and calculate inventory levels.
  • Ability to read, write, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language with sufficient proficiency to read and understand instructions for operating electronic equipment and tools.
  • Must be able to present a valid work permit if under the age of 18.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to sit, stand, and use hands to handle, finger, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Ability to exert or lift up to 42 pounds carrying boxes of records and forms.
  • Ability to climb a ladder to retrieve inaccessible items for customers located above freezer cases or from stockrooms and other storage areas.
  • Ability to sweep and mop floors and lift or carry out trash containers to be emptied in an outside bin.
