Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Avionics Technician to join our team at Strom Aviation. As an Avionics Technician, you will be responsible for performing routine and special maintenance inspections, fabricating wiring harnesses, and installing/modifying avionic and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and special maintenance inspections to prevent failure of aircraft electrical and avionic systems and components.
  • Fabricate wiring harnesses and install/modify avionic and electrical systems.
  • Determine when a component should be repaired or replaced and decide upon the necessary repair scheme and quantity and type of parts needed.
  • Follow approved maintenance procedures for subject components or systems.
  • Inspect completed work to identify any needed rework and perform rework to ensure that repaired components meet prescribed standards and tolerances.
  • Perform serviceability tests on repaired components/systems using test equipment specified by the original equipment manufacturer.
  • Complete work package documentation by signing/stamping off after finishing all designated operations.
  • Install digital avionic equipment and interpret avionic/electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace malfunctioning components or assemblies using hand tools and soldering iron.
  • Install electrical and electronic components, assemblies, and systems in aircraft using hand tools, power tools, and soldering iron.
  • Interpret flight test data to diagnose malfunctions and systemic performance problems.
  • Set up and operate ground support and test equipment to perform functional flight test of electrical and electronic systems.
  • Test components or assemblies using circuit tester, oscilloscope, and voltmeter.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, rework, and modify worn or defective assemblies, components, or systems.
Requirements
  • 5 years actual and recent depot level aircraft avionics experience is required.
  • Proficiency with interpretation of avionic/electrical wiring diagrams, wire identification, harness fabrication, cables, fittings, circuits, and connectors.
  • Prior experience in executive jet repair facility is desired.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all possible tasks and responsibilities within their Technical Area.
  • Troubleshooting skills to determine causes of operating errors and decide what to do about it.
  • Installation skills to install equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
  • Repairing skills to repair machines or systems using the needed tools.
  • Equipment selection skills to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Equipment maintenance skills to perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of FAA requirements for aircraft maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to interpret and comprehend manufacturer and FAA approved work package instructions and inspect and install parts/components.
Education
  • High School/GED.
  • Current A&P or an FAA Repairman Certificate (Avionics).
  • FCC License is desired.
