Job Opportunity

Hire Connections is partnering with a faith-based nonprofit to fill a Career Coach position. The successful candidate will support participants in a six-month program focused on personal development, skill building, and professional growth. Using strategies like motivational interviewing, case management, conflict resolution, and soft skills training, the coach will guide participants toward program graduation, full-time employment, and long-term financial stability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interview and assist in admission decisions based on candidates' potential for success.
  • Coordinate with candidates to ensure understanding of program requirements and conduct on-site orientations, including drug testing.
  • Communicate with departments about participant deferrals, progress, or career barriers.
  • Support Lead Coach with orientations and drug testing.

Coaching and On-Site Responsibilities

  • Coach two classes annually, guiding 40-60 participants toward self-sufficiency and career goals.
  • Communicate with participants weekly and hold them accountable to program requirements and personal growth.
  • Help participants set goals and ensure accountability.
  • Schedule monthly coaching meetings with each participant.
  • Track progress and updates in Salesforce CRM.
  • Meet coaching deliverables aligned with organizational goals.
  • Update Lead Coach on participant progress and escalate resource needs.
  • Assist participants in securing full-time, livable-wage employment.

Team and Operations

  • Create a welcoming, safe environment for participants and community members on-site and in communications.
  • Model organizational core values in relationships with team, staff, participants, and the community.
  • Help maintain the site by straightening, cleaning, and organizing common areas.
  • Regularly update Salesforce data.
  • Assist with setup and teardown for events like graduations, retreats, and Family Gatherings.
  • Participate in team training, staff events, and retreats.
  • Be able to lift 20-30 lbs for moving furniture and materials.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of poverty and experience working with related issues.
  • 3+ years in career and community development, ideally in a multi-program environment; bachelor's degree recommended, master's a plus.
  • 3+ years of cross-cultural leadership experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, initiative, and follow-through.
  • Proven problem-solving and motivational abilities.
  • Team player willing to assist colleagues.
  • Ability to work creatively within a budget and manage resources efficiently.

Benefits

  • 40 hours/week
  • Salary/Wage: $55,000 - $60,000
  • Performance Bonus: Up to 5% of salary
  • Vacation: 15 days per year, plus office closure from Christmas Day to New Year's Day with limited staff duties.
  • Sick Days: 6 days per year
  • Insurance Benefits: Health, dental, vision, workers' compensation, unemployment, short-term disability, and long-term disability.
