Job Summary:

The Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan is seeking a highly motivated and bilingual Recruitment Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for increasing Girl Scout membership in assigned territories, specifically in Latinx and Spanish-speaking communities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Community Outreach: Conduct recruitment meetings in schools and communities to attain membership goals and objectives, with a special focus on identified Latinx communities.
  • Adult Volunteer Engagement: Schedule and conduct information meetings in both English and Spanish languages to find qualified adults within Latinx communities to start and run Girl Scout troops.
  • Marketing and Communications: Collaborate with the Director of Recruitment and marketing/communications team to develop recruitment marketing materials appropriate for use in Latinx communities.
  • Membership Development: Implement membership recruiting strategies outlined in the annual recruitment plan.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare status reports for weekly metrics meetings to monitor progress.
  • Lead Generation and Qualification: Generate leads, qualify prospects, initiate contacts, and build partner relationships, with a special focus on Latinx communities.
  • System Utilization: Utilize the council's systems and resources to register, onboard, and track new members.
  • Background Checks: Initiate background checks for adult volunteers as required, and ensure prospective volunteers complete the background check process.
  • Customer Service: Provide efficient, responsive, and high-quality customer service to girls, parents, and volunteers in both English and Spanish languages.
Requirements:
  • Flexibility: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including many evenings and weekends.
  • Bilingual Skills: Excellent bilingual (English and Spanish) written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrated skill in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn additional computer programs as necessary.
  • Travel: Ability to travel to GSSEM service centers and to meetings throughout the designated territory.
