The Position

This is a temporary and part-time position with Sacramento County CA, facilitating the accomplishment of seasonal workload requirements in the maintenance of County parks, roads, utility plants, pipelines, drainage ditches, and other facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks under close supervision.
  • Learn and perform maintenance assignments as directed.
  • Follow written and oral instructions, abide by rules and regulations, and maintain a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License, Class 3 (now Class C) or higher.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English at a level necessary for satisfactory job performance.
  • Minimum Age Requirement: 18 years of age prior to appointment.
  • Physical Abilities: ability to perform heavy manual labor, including digging ditches, lifting and carrying materials, and working in various weather conditions.

Working Conditions

  • Work out of doors in all kinds of weather and under dusty, dirty, and hazardous conditions.
  • Subject to emergency or on-call work at other than normal duty hours.

Probationary Period

The probationary period for this classification is six (6) months.
