About the Job
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sanitation District Maintenance and Operations Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance and operations team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the maintenance, repair, and operation of our wastewater collection systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on wastewater collection systems, including pipes, pumps, and lift stations.
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment, such as backhoes and forklifts.
- Read and interpret maps, charts, and computerized mapping systems to locate and identify issues with the wastewater collection system.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and the public to resolve issues and provide information.
- Perform basic mathematical calculations to ensure accurate measurements and calculations.
- Work safely and effectively in a fast-paced environment, following all safety protocols and procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- One year of experience in maintenance and operations, preferably in the wastewater industry.
- Valid California driver's license required; Class B license with special endorsements preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
