Position Overview

As a Mechanical Manufacturing Specialist at Apple, you will play a crucial role in the development of innovative mechanical manufacturing processes that support our global supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the creation of comprehensive manufacturing solutions for critical design elements, ensuring alignment with Apple's operational standards.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Industrial Design and Product Design, to establish best-in-class manufacturing processes.
  • Lead the development and documentation of manufacturing processes, detailing all necessary parameters and requirements to meet specifications.
  • Work alongside Global Supply Managers to define supply chain needs, utilizing selected equipment and manufacturing partners.
  • Provide expert guidance at manufacturing sites during product development and production phases, resolving engineering challenges effectively.
  • Utilize data-driven approaches to inform process decisions, including basic data analysis and statistical process control.
  • Identify and evaluate premier equipment manufacturers and suppliers to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
  • Define part tolerances and specifications, demonstrating process capabilities to design teams.

Process Development Expertise

Focus on one or more of the following areas:

  • CNC Machining: Develop and optimize CNC milling and turning processes, including equipment selection and cycle time reduction.
  • Surface Finishing: Innovate processes in blasting, polishing, and anodizing to meet quality standards.
  • Glass Processing: Establish processes for glass treatment, ensuring quality and yield.
  • Assembly: Design assembly processes incorporating various joining techniques, ensuring efficiency and quality.
  • Painting: Develop painting processes that meet aesthetic and durability requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical manufacturing.
  • Strong hands-on mechanical skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Experience with high-quality cosmetic parts is advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering.
