In-Home Support Specialist

Position Summary:
As an In-Home Support Specialist, you will provide essential assistance to individuals in their residences and communities who require help with daily living activities due to age, illness, disability, or other conditions. Your role will encompass a variety of personal care tasks, including but not limited to:
- Supporting clients with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Ensuring that services are delivered with compassion and respect, adhering to the agency's policies and industry standards.
- Directly reports to the Supervisor.
- Assist clients with personal care needs, including:
- Bathing
- Dressing
- Mobility assistance
- Medication reminders
- Monitoring vital signs
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for clients.
- Teach and assist with meal planning and household tasks, including cleaning and laundry.
- Provide companionship through social interaction and emotional support.
- Facilitate respite care for families as outlined in care plans.
- Support clients with errands and shopping while managing their finances responsibly.
- Help clients adhere to dietary plans as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Accompany clients to medical appointments and community activities.
- Assist with communication needs, including writing and research.
- Contribute to the Care Team by sharing insights and suggestions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.
- Monitor supplies and report any needs to the Supervisor.
- Document daily activities and client observations accurately.
- Participate in training and team meetings.
- Foster positive relationships with clients, families, and coworkers.
- Understanding of personal care and home management principles.
- Familiarity with client care standards and satisfaction evaluation.
- Proficiency in the English language.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR techniques.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Good physical and mental health.
- Capability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and mobility assistance.
- Ability to manage stress effectively.
- Certification in Personal Care is preferred but not mandatory.
- Valid driver's license and appropriate vehicle insurance.
- Previous experience in a related field is advantageous.
- On-the-job training will be provided for new responsibilities.
