POSITION SUMMARY
This role is responsible for ensuring the timely and precise invoicing of clients, overseeing client trust accounts, and facilitating the comprehension and utilization of existing financial data. The Manager will generate reports tailored to specific requirements and guarantee that all client billing and trust accounting activities comply with firmwide policies and procedures. The position also involves identifying process improvement opportunities, recommending new processes and technologies to enhance efficiency and cash flow, coordinating the Accounting Department's services for local offices, and supervising daily workflow and department staff.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS
Collaboration with the Director of Administration, Administrative Partner, Finance Department, attorneys, and administrative personnel is crucial.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including planning, prioritizing, directing workflow, and serving as a resource for inquiries while interfacing with senior management.

• Ensure prompt and effective resolution of internal and external customer inquiries to provide excellent service.

• Mentor team members and identify professional development opportunities; manage and monitor projects effectively.

• Create ad hoc reports, charts, and analyses as needed.

• Prepare and interpret financial data to guide decision-making processes.

• Support the firmwide finance team during the annual audit and various initiatives across the firm.

• Prepare for firmwide 1099 reporting and manage responses to partners regarding historical client accounting information.

• Process invoices, ensuring accuracy and completeness before client distribution, and obtain necessary approvals for adjustments.

• Coordinate staff billing and electronic billing activities.

• Provide backup for trust accounting as necessary.

• Ensure timely deposits of daily receipts.

• Assist with accounts payable as requested by the firmwide Accounts Payable Department, processing check requests and expenses.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

• Assist with special projects and other assigned duties.

• Recommend training and cross-training for staff as needed, ensuring equitable workload distribution.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

• Familiarity with general ledger accounts.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to address inquiries with diplomacy and tact.

• Capability to oversee multiple functions while leading and directing staff.

• Must be detail-oriented and organized, with a high degree of accuracy.

• Understanding of financial accounting systems, preferably within a legal environment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

• Experience in financial reporting and report generation is essential.

• Extensive billing experience in professional services is required.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity.

• 5-10 years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial role; prior experience in a law firm is preferred.

• A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in an office setting and is primarily sedentary, requiring routine use of a computer and standard office equipment.

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $90,000-$135,000 per year, determined during the interview process based on various factors including experience and expertise.
