Position Summary:


The role of the Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) Specialist is vital for advancing our cybersecurity initiatives, alarm management processes, and control system activities within petrochemical facilities. This position will spearhead innovative strategies to ensure the effective implementation of these initiatives across all Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), including Foxboro, Delta V, and Triconex.

Collaboration with various organizational levels, particularly with process control engineers, is essential to meet objectives and manage all initiatives effectively.


Key Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering support for SIS in the chemicals and manufacturing sectors.
- Oversee alarm management processes.
- Collaborate with area Process Control Engineers and Manufacturing Information System teams during implementation.

- Demonstrate proficiency in alarm management standards such as ISA 18.2, IEC 62443 / ISA 99, and EEMUA 191, applying them effectively in petrochemical contexts.

- Develop and execute control and automation solutions for facilities.
- Ensure system cybersecurity, with preferred certifications like GICSP/CISSP.
- Manage network systems and identify opportunities for enhancements in plant process control systems.
- Participate as a project team member as needed.
- Engage in Process Safety Management (PSM) activities and provide design engineering support for projects.
- Develop detailed scopes of work for the instrument and electrical disciplines.
- Contribute to the Process Safety Engineering Team to manage the SIS safety life cycle phases effectively, demonstrating proficiency in Safety Instrumented Function (SIF) design and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) implementation, along with a solid understanding of IEC 61511.
- Create SIS and DCS scope documents for instrumented Independent Protection Layers (IPLs) and oversee IPL verifications as required.

Additional Responsibilities:
- Regular presence in the workplace is essential, with the possibility of extended hours to meet production goals.
- Collaborate effectively with team members from diverse backgrounds.
- Follow directives and undertake additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.
- Participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives as outlined by the company.
- Complete mandatory training programs as required by the organization.

Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in alarm management, cybersecurity, instrumentation, and SIS project engineering is required.

- Familiarity with industry codes and standards, including NFPA 70, NPA85-87, UL508, IEC 61511, ISA 18.2, IEC 62443 / ISA 99, and EEMUA 191.

- Experience with industrial control system DCS and PLC configuration is preferred.
- Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) is essential.
- Proven ability to work effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
- Experience with Foxboro I/A, Emerson DeltaV, and Triconex PLC is desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
- Proficiency in internet applications, email, and Microsoft Office programs is required.
- Candidates must possess or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Control Systems, or Chemical Engineering.

- Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including NFPA 70, NPA85-87, UL508, IEC 61511, ISA 18.2, IEC 62443 / ISA 99, and EEMUA 191.

- CSFE/CSFP or equivalent certification for SIS and GICSP/CISSP for cybersecurity is required or must be actively pursued.
