Position Overview:
The Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Specialist is responsible for supporting operations through a blend of maintenance tasks and engineering initiatives, including the development of new products.

Key Responsibilities:
Under guidance, the I&E Specialist engages in a variety of engineering activities related to the planning, installation, monitoring, and upkeep of control systems and machinery.

  • Conduct and document maintenance, calibration, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems.
  • Calibrate, diagnose issues, and repair plant instrumentation such as transmitters, analyzers, control valves, switches, and relays.
  • Inspect, repair, and replace transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, and electrical systems.
  • Work with diverse instruments including ultrasonic, guided wave radar, mass flow, and pressure transducers.
  • Interpret piping and instrument diagrams, signal flow diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel drawings, one-line drawings, loop sheets, and wire lists.
  • Adhere to environmental, health, and safety policies while performing all duties.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of both minor and major shutdowns.
  • Provide technical and hands-on support as needed during shutdowns.
  • Execute repairs and maintenance on electrical systems ranging from low voltage 24VDC to 480VAC.
  • Utilize instrument drawings and P&IDs to identify end devices and components.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in instrumentation of equipment is necessary.
  • Proficient knowledge and experience in the design, installation, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment are essential.
  • Familiarity with PLC, HMI, automated equipment, and standard instrumentation types (4-20 mA, 0-5 V, pulse, MODBUS) is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and one-line diagrams is mandatory.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams including electrical technicians, mechanics, welders, operations personnel, engineers, and safety professionals is required.
  • Journeyman electrician certification is preferred.
  • Experience in the natural gas industry is advantageous.
  • Hands-on experience with the following equipment is required: Control/Automated Valves, Pressure/Temperature Transmitters, Mass/Mag Flowmeters, RTD/Temperature Transmitters, PH/ORP/Conductivity Sensors, and Variable Frequency Drives.

Work Environment:
Conditions may vary and include:

  • Controlled office environment.
  • Fieldwork covering various locations.
  • Equipment fabrication and panel shops.
  • Customer offices as required based on project needs.
  • Driving to and from locations is necessary.
  • Compliance with general industry and site-specific safety policies is mandatory.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to:

  • Push, pull, and lift 25 lbs or more.
  • Stand for periods of up to 4 hours.
  • Drive on behalf of the company.
