Patient Care Coordinator

As a Patient Care Specialist with Sentara Healthcare, you will play a vital role in ensuring an exceptional patient experience by providing non-clinical support within a physician's office. Your responsibilities will include scheduling appointments, answering patient questions, and performing various administrative tasks to support patient care delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
• Scheduling appointments and outpatient procedures under general supervision, including coordination of referrals, resources, and pre-authorizations.
• Providing general administrative support for practice operations, such as scheduling meetings, preparing correspondence, and maintaining notes/minutes/files.
• Responding to telephone and written inquiries from internal and external sources, including patients, providers, and insurance companies.
Requirements:
• Three years of clerical, customer service experience required.
• One year of experience with health insurance plans, medical records data, medical terminology, registration, scheduling, or third-party payers required.
• Experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
Skills:
• Active listening, coding, coordination, critical thinking, mathematics, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, reading comprehension, service orientation, speaking, technology/computer, time management, typing speed 30+ WPM, writing.
