Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough dissection, detailed gross description, selection, and submission of tissue samples for microscopic analysis and specialized studies in accordance with departmental protocols.
  • Adhere to laboratory procedures for specimen management and processing.
  • Comply with the laboratory's quality control policies and procedures.
  • Assist in various departmental rotations with specified tasks promptly after completing assigned duties.
  • Maintain a professional working environment.
  • Identify and address issues that may negatively impact test performance or result reporting.
  • Uphold high ethical standards and integrity in all assigned responsibilities.
  • Possess knowledge of hazardous waste management.
  • Understand personal protection measures and bloodborne pathogens.
  • Experience in cutting frozen sections is preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological, Chemical, or a related life science.
  • Completion of a NAACLS accredited PA program is preferred.
  • Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of grossing experience with small biopsies and complex surgical cases.
  • Experience in a high-volume clinical laboratory setting is preferred.
  • Proficient in computer use; familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  • Understanding of hazardous waste management and personal protection measures.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
  • Must pass a standardized color vision screening.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or different shifts based on business needs.
