Position Overview:

This role focuses on financial oversight and accounting for capital expenditures. The incumbent will review, monitor, and ensure compliance with procedures related to the cost and asset components of projects within the capital investment program across various regions from initiation to closure.

This position will support all project and program-related accounting activities and analyze financial data related to projects.

Acting as the regional liaison between Engineering and Utility-wide cost and asset accounting teams, this role will develop methods to identify expenditure trends from available data, pinpoint areas for process enhancement, and suggest potential cost reductions. Additionally, the position will serve as the local representative for improvements in accounting systems and policies.

The role will also generate reports on financial performance metrics on both a regular and ad-hoc basis.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist regional Project Managers and the Director of Engineering with ongoing CapEx activities to ensure adherence to financial governance and accounting policies, as well as best practices concerning capital cost and asset accounting.

Specific tasks include:
- Prepare and edit project metadata, timelines, and budget plans in the financial management platform as needed.

- Analyze, administer, and rectify project cost and asset data, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in asset management while collaborating with stakeholders to reflect project progress accurately.

- Reconcile inventory utilizing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

- Review and reconcile sales and use tax charges as necessary.

- Independently track and analyze project expenditures monthly.

Utilize ERP systems to conduct cost queries and complex financial analyses, addressing any discrepancies in the data with the Accounting team.

- Identify projects needing authorization overruns and evaluate the underlying causes.

- Provide monthly financial analysis reports to Engineering staff.

- Prepare expenditure reports for regulatory compliance, which involves gathering data from various systems and creating tailored reports.

- Conduct cost queries to assist the Director of Engineering with additional financial analyses and breakdowns.

- Collaborate with Corporate-level stakeholder groups to identify and develop opportunities for cost or process improvements related to cost and asset accounting and engage in process optimization.

Additional Responsibilities:
- Present monthly financial analyses to the accounting team at the start of each month to guide business strategy.

- Utilize this data to identify and propose areas for process enhancements within policies or financial systems to add value to the business and improve the integrity of financial accounting.

- Contribute to the formulation of processes and procedures supporting capital expenditure activities related to Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) initiatives.

- Assist in reviewing and modifying documents to implement these enhancements.

- Serve as the regional power user for accounting and ERP systems, including participation in improvement or upgrade projects.

Review changes with the regional team, assist in System Integration and User Acceptance Testing, and provide training to regional users upon implementation.

- Offer training for new employees on ERP and Asset Management platforms.
