Job SummaryWe are seeking a Medical Support Specialist to join our team at our plasma center in Mount Pleasant, WI. As a Medical Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our donors and employees. You will be responsible for determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, and reviewing laboratory test results.
Key Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility accurately and in a timely manner, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self-exclusion.
- Evaluate and manage donor reaction(s) that occur at the facility, following applicable SOPs.
- Manage donor deferral, reviewing test results and notifying donors of unsuitable test results per applicable SOPs.
- Initiate and investigate Post Donation Information (PDI), referring to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs as needed.
- Assist the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program as required, including conducting pre-placement evaluations of new hires and maintaining employee medical records.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where duties will be assigned: Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse (LPN or LVN).
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification required.
- Fulfillment of state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy.
- Able to satisfactorily complete the FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
- Minimum of two years in a clinical or hospital setting preferred.
