Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team at Coastal Gulf & International, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine laboratory tests, ensuring accurate results, and maintaining high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct basic analytical tests according to established procedures and standards.
  • Assist in setting up, adjusting, and operating laboratory equipment.
  • Calibrate laboratory instruments to ensure accurate analysis.
  • Clean and sterilize laboratory equipment to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas.
  • Record test results and write test reports describing procedures used.
  • Understand and complete laboratory raw data sheets and accurately enter data into the LIMS database.
  • Read and comprehend analysis and safety standards in English, including ASTM, UOP, IP, and other well-defined analytical standards and procedures.
  • Adhere to procedural, safety, and quality requirements specified in the Laboratory Manual & Safety Manual and company policies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a related science preferred, or equivalent work experience with a minimum of one (2) year of directly transferable experience in a laboratory.
  • Knowledge of ASTM standards.
  • Ability to work with all chemical, petrochemical, and petroleum products.
  • Accurate color differentiation by sight.
  • Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Access preferred.
  • Excellent work history and a track record of being a responsible individual.
  • Detailed-oriented and excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of laboratory equipment.
Working Conditions

This position is performed in a laboratory environment. The working environment and physical demands described here are representative, but not necessarily all-inclusive, of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Required to walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms; and to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or twist body to fit and/or reach.
  • The employee's lifting requirement and/or moving items up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in the presence of odors typical of petroleum or petrochemicals without allergic reactions or nausea, when such odors are within OSHA-designated permissible exposure limits (PELs).
  • May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
