Position: Accountant

Job Summary

The Fuel Accounting division supports financial operations for energy companies and their affiliates.


This role entails executing accounting and analytical functions to assist the company's fleet of energy production facilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conduct monthly financial closing activities for fuel operations, including the preparation of journal entries, supporting calculations, variance analysis, and monthly reconciliations.

2. Manage, process, and resolve monthly billing for fuel-related transactions.

3. Provide essential support and system testing for fuel management platforms.

4. Execute account reconciliations.

5. Assist with internal and external audit processes.

6. Carry out financial reporting tasks in compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, including generating reports, schedules, memos, and explanations that support financial statements.

7. Stay informed about GAAP, FERC, and state regulatory matters impacting fuel operations and contribute to necessary accounting system enhancements.


8. Periodically publish various fuel-related regulatory reports and data requests as mandated by regulatory bodies.


Additional Qualifications

Educational Background

A BS/BA degree with a major or concentration in Accounting is required.

An advanced degree or professional certification is advantageous.

Experience, Knowledge, & Skills


A minimum of 2 years of recent general accounting experience is required (public accounting experience is preferred), including expertise in financial reporting, journal entry preparation, and account reconciliations.

Familiarity with GAAP, FERC, SEC, and other regulatory standards, as well as company policies and guidelines.

Proficiency in Oracle Cloud is a plus.

Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strong commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.

Excellent organizational skills with the capability to self-manage, handle multiple projects concurrently, and meet deadlines.

Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate and build effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to identify and implement process enhancements.

Familiarity with financial applications and processes is a plus.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
