Overview
The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for gathering and interpreting financial data for the organization. This role involves developing comprehensive revenue and expense analyses, along with detailed projections, reports, and presentations. The analyst will create and evaluate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy in recorded financial information. Additionally, the analyst will identify trends and communicate findings to upper management. A Bachelor's degree in accounting is typically required, along with three to five years of relevant experience. CPA certification or eligibility is preferred. This position reports to the Department Supervisor or Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintains general ledger accounts in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Conducts and/or reviews account reconciliations.
- Possesses an understanding of multicurrency transactions and their impact on financial statements.
- Prepares and analyzes monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Identifies and implements improvements to current processes, ensuring documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Evaluates financial trends and investigates any unusual or unexpected variances.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze relevant data, presenting insightful findings and recommendations to management.
- Engages in financial planning, analysis, and reporting, supporting complex financial and operational objectives.
- Recommends solutions to resolve issues and implements necessary corrections.
- Participates in the development of functional specifications for projects, ensuring that customizations are well-defined, documented, and tested.
- Creates integrated test plans for new processes or modifications to existing systems.
- Prepares additional management and statutory reports as required.
- Assists in leading the monthly closing process.
- Encourages teamwork across operational groups and departments.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- 3 - 5 years of accounting experience.
- CPA certification or in pursuit of certification.
- In-depth knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures related to general ledger accounting.
- Experience with PeopleSoft GL is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with a self-starter attitude.
- Proficient in computer skills, particularly Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong work ethic and team-oriented mindset.
- Willingness to travel as necessary.
