Position Overview

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The primary aim of the physician role is to develop a thorough, community-oriented, family-centered primary care initiative. This initiative is intended to:

  • Enhance accessibility to a broad spectrum of high-quality primary healthcare services.
  • Elevate health outcomes through an integrated service model emphasizing prevention, health education, and evidence-based management of chronic conditions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Formulate individualized care plans for each patient, encompassing: comprehensive medical history, physical assessments, diagnosis of health issues, and appropriate treatment or referrals.
  • Emphasize the significance of preventive healthcare and utilize all available resources, including laboratory and imaging tests, to aid in diagnosis and confirmation of health conditions.
  • Provide medical care to patients without bias related to age, race, color, national origin, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, weight, disability, or income.
  • Administer immunizations and vaccinations in accordance with established standards of care.
  • Engage in discussions with consulting healthcare professionals, patients, and their families regarding treatment and care, ensuring confidentiality is maintained.
  • Refer patients requiring specialized services while adhering to managed care agreements and maintaining accountability for the necessity of those services.
  • Participate in practice development, quality assurance, peer evaluations, and organizational meetings as required by leadership.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers and support staff to foster effective communication and continuous improvement in clinical operations.
  • Ensure precise and timely documentation of all patient interactions, complying with standards set by relevant healthcare authorities.
  • Manage a full patient panel, maintaining a minimum of 1,500 active patients per provider FTE.
  • Adhere to federal productivity standards as defined by relevant healthcare guidelines.
  • Deliver coordinated and comprehensive patient care across all life stages, in various care settings, including outpatient, consultations, and community services.
  • Perform additional duties that may enhance patient care and community health.
  • Comply with the mission of the organization and established standards of care, as well as any clinical protocols and operational guidelines.
  • Cooperate with legal authorities in the defense of claims, providing necessary documentation and patient information as permitted by law.
  • Work with administration to develop and implement strategic and operational plans specific to the practice.

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS:

Accountable to:

  • Direct supervision by the Director of Family Medicine.
  • Overall oversight by the Chief Medical Officer.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION:

The Director of Family Medicine, in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer, will provide ongoing feedback and formal evaluations on various performance metrics, including productivity, clinical knowledge, patient rapport, and adherence to corporate policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requirements include:

Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of a family medicine residency program.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Active medical license in South Carolina.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine.

Skills:

  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities.
  • Proficient in computer usage and keyboarding.
  • Able to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality practices.
  • Ability to manage stressful situations calmly and effectively.
  • Demonstrated clinical competencies.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong decision-making capabilities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate verbally and audibly.
  • Capable of physical tasks such as pushing, pulling, reaching, and sitting.
  • Occasional requirements to stand, walk, kneel, or crouch.
  • Manual dexterity for operating medical equipment and technology.
  • Vision capabilities for close work and computer use.

Work Environment:

  • Moderate noise levels with potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
  • Minimal requirements for travel.
