Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Instructor to join our Sociology department at College of the Canyons. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching sociology courses and contributing to the development of our academic programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach sociology courses to students of diverse backgrounds and experiences
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that promote student learning and success
  • Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback
  • Participate in departmental and college-wide committees and activities
  • Stay current with developments in the field of sociology and incorporate new technologies and pedagogies into teaching practices
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Sociology or a related field
  • OR - Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Master's degree in a related field (such as Anthropology, Ethnic Studies, Social Work, or Psychology)
  • OR - Equivalency: An official transcript documenting successful completion of any Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education and official transcripts documenting successful completion of 24 semester units in the discipline at the upper division and graduate level, a minimum of which must be 12 graduate level semester units
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and administrators
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching experience in sociology or a related field
  • Experience with curriculum development and implementation
  • Knowledge of educational technologies and their application in teaching and learning
  • Ability to work with diverse student populations and promote inclusive learning environments
