Job Summary

This is a supervisory position in the Department of Transportation, responsible for overseeing a team of Air Traffic Control Specialists. The successful candidate will have a strong background in air traffic control and management, with experience in supervising staff and making strategic decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise a team of Air Traffic Control Specialists to ensure the safe and efficient movement of air traffic.
  • Plan and assign work to subordinate employees, setting priorities and schedules as needed.
  • Approve leave, provide guidance and counsel to employees, and evaluate their performance.
  • Identify and arrange for training and development opportunities for employees.
  • Communicate and reinforce diversity and EEO policies and programs within the team.
  • Support and participate in the labor management partnership process.
Requirements
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50.
  • Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
  • Security Requirement: Non-Critical Sensitive (2).
  • Medical Requirement: The selectee must pass a medical exam and/or maintain a medical clearance.
  • Financial disclosure may be required.
Qualifications
  • Candidates must have specialized experience in air traffic control and management.
  • Specialized experience is defined as holding an FAA 2152 FV-J/FG-14 or above regional or headquarters position for at least 1 year (52 weeks), or being facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) at an Air Traffic Services (ATS) facility.
  • Candidates must also be eligible to make application.

  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • The person selected for this position may be required to file a financial disclosure statement within 30 days of entry on duty.
