The role also requires assisting healthcare professionals during medical procedures and conducting standard point-of-care assessments.

Administrative Responsibilities: The Assistant will work closely with the Clinic Manager and nursing staff to coordinate patient scheduling, manage document flow, and facilitate pre-authorization for services, procedures, and specialized medications.

Additionally, clerical support will involve creating patient profiles in the system, processing financial transactions, scheduling follow-up visits, and transitioning smoothly between administrative and clinical tasks as required.

Insurance Management: The Assistant will play a crucial role in handling insurance prior authorizations for various services, including EKGs and specialty pharmacy medications, with a particular emphasis on Physical Therapy authorizations.

This position necessitates the meticulous gathering of all essential documentation and supplementary information needed for the prior authorization process to ensure the efficient delivery of services and acquisition of specialty medications for patients.

Essential Skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding of clinical best practices as outlined by federal regulations.
  • Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with healthcare insurance precertification, prior authorization, and coding protocols.
  • Knowledge of payer medical policy guidelines and their application in managing authorizations.

  • Proficiency in computer usage and various software applications, including word processing, database management, spreadsheets, electronic medical records, and online resources.
  • Ability to effectively organize tasks and meet deadlines on multiple concurrent assignments while achieving management objectives.
  • Capability to present information clearly in individual and small group settings to patients, families, third-party payers, and colleagues.
  • Proficient understanding of clinical and medical terminology, including ICD 10, HCPCS, and CPT codes.
  • Adaptability to new technologies and ability to learn quickly.
  • Capacity to multitask and maintain focus in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced setting with numerous priorities and a diverse multidisciplinary team.
