Key Responsibilities

The Warehouse Safety Coordinator will be tasked with the development, execution, and management of robust safety protocols and initiatives aimed at ensuring a secure working environment for all warehouse employees. This role involves close collaboration with warehouse leadership and personnel to pinpoint potential risks, evaluate hazards, and implement effective safety measures.

  • Formulate, execute, and uphold warehouse safety guidelines and programs in alignment with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Conduct routine safety assessments and inspections of warehouse facilities, equipment, and operational processes to identify hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Work alongside warehouse management and staff to evaluate safety risks, devise corrective action strategies, and enforce measures to eliminate or reduce hazards.
  • Deliver safety training and orientation for new hires, covering proper equipment handling, emergency protocols, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Engage with external regulatory bodies, such as OSHA, to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and develop preventive strategies.
  • Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, training sessions, incidents, and corrective actions taken.
  • Assess and enhance the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives, recommending improvements as necessary.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to warehouse safety, providing recommendations for ongoing enhancement.
  • Act as a resource for warehouse personnel on safety matters, fostering a culture of safety awareness and accountability throughout the organization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Certification as a Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in warehouse safety management or a related field, ideally within the food industry.
  • Comprehensive understanding of safety regulations, standards, and best practices, including OSHA guidelines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to assess risks and devise effective safety solutions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of training and educating employees at all levels.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills, able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software tools.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team.
