Loan Compliance Specialist

CrossCountry Mortgage seeks a seasoned Forensic Underwriter to perform in-depth reviews of closed mortgage loans for compliance with regulatory requirements. This role requires strong analytical skills and attention to detail to identify potential fraud and ensure adherence to federal and state laws.
About the Role:
This position involves re-underwriting closed loan files to verify compliance with government agency and investor guidelines. You will analyze closing documentation, investigate potential fraud, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve defects. Additionally, you will prepare formal written responses to agencies/investors and perform accurate reporting for training purposes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Re-underwrite closed loan files to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Analyze closing documentation to verify adherence to federal and state laws.
- Investigate potential fraud using resources such as Lexis Nexis or written/verbal verifications.
- Collaborate with underwriting, sales processing, and other teams to resolve defects.
- Prepare formal written responses to agencies/investors and perform accurate reporting.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years' underwriting experience in manual and automated environments.
- Familiarity with FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, and USDA guidelines.
- Knowledge of transaction components indicating potential fraud.
- Ellie Mae Encompass experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
