About the Role

Niantic Labs, a pioneering company in the field of augmented reality, is seeking an experienced UX Designer to join its team. As a UX Designer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the user experience of groundbreaking, highly social experiences and innovative apps that move people through the real world.

Key Responsibilities
  1. User Experience Design: Design intuitive UI, create interaction flows, and develop interface designs for Pokémon GO. Brainstorm ideas, narratives, and create prototypes to find creative solutions to Niantic's unique set of design challenges involving the real world.
  2. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional peers, including engineers, product managers, user researchers, and artists, to build fun and exciting real-world experiences.
  3. Mentorship: Mentor other UX Designers and help develop a strong player-centered mentality.
  4. Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional team members and stakeholders, including regular and reliable attendance and participation in meetings.
  5. Work Schedule: Required in-office 2 days on Wednesday and Thursday.
Requirements
  1. Experience: 5+ years of experience preferred.
  2. Portfolio: Portfolio of work showcasing samples of interaction design for mobile applications.
  3. Design Skills: Ability to create interaction flow wireframes based on high-level product spec, strong visual design skills, and Figma experience.
  4. Prototyping: Ability to create visual/functional prototypes to test design ideas.
  5. Communication: Strong communication skills with cross-functional members and leadership, excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, and Japanese language ability is a plus.
  6. Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced hybrid environment and handle stress appropriately, or ability to solve practical problems and be sufficiently adaptable to handle dynamic situations with little advance notice.
  7. Teamwork: Experience working on cross-functional teams with ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal communications, including synchronous interactions with others.
