Job Summary

The Floor Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the overall maintenance of hard surface and carpeted areas, including offices, patient rooms, classrooms, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and other public areas. This includes stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction, and bonneting of floors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance checks on equipment prior to use.
  • Secure the work area and post safety notices for other users.
  • Perform floor care, including routine mopping, buffing, and burnishing on hard surface floors and stairwells.
  • Perform vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting, and extracting carpets, stairwells, and upholstery.
  • Perform wall cleaning and dusting.
  • Perform routine restroom and office/classroom cleaning.
  • Maintain floor care equipment and perform terminal cleaning with UV machines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of directly relevant job-related experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.
  • 1 year experience and/or successful completion of the DES Floor Tech training program required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic addition and subtraction.
  • Ability to comply with basic oral and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of floor care processes and safe use of chemical agents.
  • Knowledge of operating various pieces of equipment necessary to effectively perform job functions.

This position has a hiring range of $17.5 - $25.5.
