Job Summary

This position is located at the Hopi Health Care Center (HHCC), a leading healthcare facility in Polacca, Arizona. As an Optometrist (Clinical), you will play a critical role in providing primary eye care services to patients, including examinations, diagnoses, and treatments for various eye conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Examine and diagnose eye conditions, including ammetropias, ocular infections, and dry eye conditions.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for patients with eye conditions, including prescription of corrective lenses and vision training.
  • Provide primary and specialized optometric care services to patients, including diagnosis and management of related systemic conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and timely medical records in compliance with professional and facility guidelines.
  • Function as a preceptor/clinical educator for formal optometry internship and/or residency programs.
Requirements
  • Must have a Doctor of Optometry degree from an educational program accredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE).
  • Must have received a passing score on the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) examinations and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice optometry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Must meet the minimum qualifications for the GS-11 or GS-12 grade level, depending on experience.
