Position Summary
The Maintenance Shops Manager will report to the Senior Manager, Shops, and will be responsible for overseeing the aircraft work schedule programs associated with Base Maintenance Shops. This role emphasizes the importance of a safety-oriented workforce and fosters collaboration across departments to enhance operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
The Maintenance Shops Manager will:
1. Supervise maintenance operations and personnel, ensuring that all tasks align with operational goals.
2. Collaborate with the maintenance and engineering teams to secure necessary resources for maintaining the integrity of airline operations.
3. Communicate daily with Shop Leads and staff to ensure smooth operations.
4. Manage in-shop repair goals while ensuring timely and accurate return of components to service.
5. Oversee the repair, overhaul, or modification of aircraft parts/components, coordinating with the Vendor Performance team to track outsourced items.
6. Act as a liaison between vendors and the supply department.
7. Ensure compliance with FAA and company specifications for all maintenance work, providing coaching and guidance to both Contract and Non-Contract Staff.
8. Oversee training requirements to ensure personnel are qualified and familiar with relevant manuals and procedures.
9. Assist in developing and enforcing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to promote safe and consistent work practices.
10. Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations within the workplace.
11. Maintain compliance with TRAX and training requirements, managing overtime programs and reports.
12. Monitor departmental budgets and expenses, providing monthly variance reports related to finances and aircraft schedules.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of management or leadership experience.
- Airframe and Powerplant license.
- Experience in budget oversight and vendor management.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Valid state driver's license and ability to obtain a ramp license.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with B717, B787, A321, and A330 aircraft.
- Background in FAR part 121 operations.
- Previous management experience within IAM.
- College degree.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
