Attorney-Adviser (Contract) Position

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Attorney-Adviser (Contract) to join our team at the Office of the Chief of the National Guard Bureau. The successful candidate will provide legal guidance and support to the National Guard Bureau staff and 54 United States Property and Fiscal Officers on fiscal law and policy matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on fiscal law and policy matters related to procurement, cooperative agreements, and other financial transactions.
- Draft and review regulations, including conference policy and Chief of the National Guard Bureau Issuances (CNGBIs).
- Evaluate proposed legislation and coordinate with organizations affected by legislative proposals.
- Provide supervision and mentorship to junior members of the office of the General Counsel in contract law, fiscal law, and cooperative agreement law.
- Oversee the quality and accuracy of work product in contract law, fiscal law, and cooperative agreement law.
Requirements:
- First professional law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) and good standing with the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia.
- 3 years of professional legal experience, acquired after being admitted to the bar, commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Graduation from an ABA-Accredited Law School in the top 25% of the class or an advanced law degree such as an LLM may substitute for one year of the required professional legal experience.
Working Conditions: This is a Professional Services Career Field 56 position. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. The selected candidate will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship and undergo a background investigation.
