Job Overview

Attention Underground Utility Professionals

TD&I Cable Maintenance, Inc. is seeking to fill various roles including Laborers, Operators, Fiber Jetters, Locators, Foremen, and Project Supervisors within the telecommunications construction sector.

No prior experience is required for some positions; however, a valid driver's license is mandatory. Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided, along with competitive benefits. Compensation varies based on the specific role, experience level, and license classification.

Laborer Duties:

  • Perform excavation tasks such as digging potholes and trenching
  • Handle loading and unloading of materials, tools, and equipment
  • Assist Operators in guiding drill direction
  • Conduct site restoration activities

Operator Duties:

  • Recognize underground utilities and understand utility locate markings
  • Excavate safely using the provided machinery
  • Navigate underground infrastructure to effectively install fiber optic cabling

Fiber Jetter Duties:

  • After excavation, install fiber optic cable using the jetting method
  • Operate fiber jetting machinery safely
  • Maintain accurate records of the footage of fiber optic cable installed

Locator Duties:

  • Map and identify the location and depth of various utilities including water, sewer, gas, and telecommunications
  • Assist in the installation of Outside Plant (OSP) facilities

Foreman Duties:

  • Ensure adequate manpower and resources are available
  • Oversee compliance with safety protocols and quality standards
  • Supervise the operation of machinery and equipment

Project Supervisor Duties:

  • Coordinate crew efforts to ensure high-quality work within set deadlines
  • Monitor construction activities and provide necessary training
  • Collaborate with vendors, inspectors, managers, and subcontractors

General Requirements for All Positions:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in underground utility construction is preferred but not required for Laborer roles
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a construction team
  • Must qualify for a DOT Medical Card to operate commercial vehicles and trailers over 10,000 lbs.
  • Good physical fitness and stamina are essential
  • Familiarity with construction procedures, equipment, OSHA, and FMCSA/DOT regulations is advantageous

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 per hour
Expected Hours: 40 – 70 hours per week
