The Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Field Technician II to join our team. As a Field Technician II, you'll be responsible for installing, decommissioning, and troubleshooting network equipment and circuits. You'll work under minimal supervision, utilizing established guidelines, procedures, and policies to perform a variety of functions based on the need of the geographic area. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the integrity of our network and delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot network equipment, remove/replace defective equipment, and work with resources to isolate and restore network.
  • Install, change, and decommission Next Generation technologies, including Edge Compute, Wavelength services, Fiber Optic Transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP network layers.
  • Perform level 1 preventive scheduled maintenance and inspections on network and critical infrastructure equipment.
  • Utilize industry-standard software and hardware to accurately locate, mark, and protect underground outside plant facilities.
  • Manage assets, replenish on-site/truck materials, and coordinate shipping and receiving of company and customer materials.
Requirements
  • 2+ years' experience in installation, test, and turn-up of telecommunications equipment, including SONET, DCS, DWDM, routers, and switches.
  • Strong technical and mechanical background, with experience on the latest generation transport gear, critical infrastructure, and knowledge of locating fiber optic cable, right-of-way, and As-Builts.
  • High degree of experience and/or knowledge of at least two of the four major technician disciplines: Transmission, Switching, TCP/IP, and Outside Plant.
  • Ability to quickly learn corporate databases and utilize PC skills, Microsoft Windows, and Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
  • High School diploma or GED.
