About the Department:
The Center for Geospatial Intelligence (CGEOINT) is dedicated to conducting, supporting, and coordinating research, education, technology transfer, and outreach initiatives in the field of geospatial intelligence. This department is committed to fostering an inclusive environment that values diversity and promotes equity within the STEM community.
About the Position:
The Postdoctoral Fellow will work within the Center for Geospatial Intelligence, focusing on the design and execution of extensive urban simulations, often referred to as "digital twins." This role is part of a collaborative project funded by USDA, involving multiple institutions.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate on the creation of a scalable urban simulation addressing human mobility and animal movement;
- Manage the application of simulations in various contexts related to infectious disease;
- Develop and maintain a repository for simulation code and data sources;
- Publish and share research findings in leading journals and conferences;
- Supervise research assistants and interns while collaborating with fellow researchers.
Required Qualifications:
- Terminal degree in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, data science, modeling and simulation, or closely related areas);
- Proficiency in programming;
- Established publication record;
- Strong teamwork and communication abilities;
- Comprehensive knowledge in the discipline and in-depth understanding of specific research areas;
- Familiarity with research methodologies;
- Skills in data analysis and interpretation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with agent-based modeling or similar social/ecological simulations;
- Programming skills in Python or Java;
- Background in data mining;
- Experience in data management and database systems;
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary research teams;
- Skills in geospatial analytics.
