General Overview: Under general oversight, this position entails supervising skilled activities related to the installation and upkeep of electrical circuits, devices, machinery, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides first-line supervision for Electrical Mechanics and Electrical Mechanic Sub-Foremen.
  • Calculates material and labor needs, orders supplies, and keeps precise records.
  • Ensures that shop equipment is current and maintained in optimal working order.
  • Manages a safe and efficient repair shop with effective housekeeping practices.
Additional Duties:
  • Accountable for the management and care of tools and equipment.
  • Performs other assigned responsibilities as necessary.
Work Environment:

Typical tasks may involve exposure to industrial machinery, elevated noise levels, construction activities, and varying weather conditions. The role may require working in confined spaces or at heights and handling hazardous materials.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical trade principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with national electrical codes, relevant regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in the use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Capability to plan, install, and repair electrical systems.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and adhere to instructions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of high school or equivalent, along with four years of journeyman-level experience in the electrical trade.

Substitution Policy:

Additional experience may be considered as a substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Promotional Criteria:
  • One year of service as an Electrical Mechanic Sub-Foreman or two years as an Electrical Mechanic within the organization.
  • Civil service status in the relevant classifications.
