Job Summary

This role provides support for the delivery of a full range of medical imaging procedures. As a Weekend Tech Assistant, you will assist and perform a variety of technical and patient care-related duties, enhancing the effective and efficient delivery of radiology services under the direct and indirect supervision of the registered professional technologist.

Responsibilities
  • Greet patients upon arrival to the Radiology department and facilitate a positive patient experience.
  • Answer phone calls in a timely and courteous manner, identifying yourself and the unit at all times.
  • Verify completeness of written orders and notify ordering physicians of any inaccuracies.
  • Support Radiologic Technologists in the planning and execution of routine imaging procedures, meeting department standards.
  • Prepare patients for basic examinations and diagnostic procedures according to department procedure.
  • Inform appropriate personnel of patient arrival for appointment.
  • Assess patient needs related to comfort and provide support accordingly.
  • Provide direct patient care as needed to facilitate routine imaging services.
  • Safely assist in the transport and handling of patients according to WVUH's patient handling policy.
  • Escort patients to and from the procedure room and assist as needed with patient arrival and departure from the department.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment according to department procedures to prevent and control infection.
  • Promote a team approach to providing Radiology services by positively interacting with technical, support, nursing, residents, and medical staff.
  • Observe and report patient concerns or changes in condition to a registered technologist, nurse, or physician immediately.
