Job Summary

Lutheran Services Carolinas is seeking a dedicated Education Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will work with pre-school and school-aged youth and their parents under the School Impact Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage eligible children in after-school activities to support academic performance and social adjustment, especially the vulnerable adolescent and LGBT adolescent population.
  • Provide children/parents with in-school activities developed to bridge school and home, including school enrollment, consultation with school personnel regarding student progress and adjustment.
  • Advocate for student concerns, orient students to the school community, and conduct programs at the school.
  • Develop and implement Parent Focused activities throughout the year, designed to involve parents in their children's education and engage them in school activities.
  • Assume other duties assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years in teaching experience.
  • Working with new arrivals and immigrant families preferred.
  • Good natured, firm, and able to work and enjoy working with children, patient.
  • Awareness and sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics is required.
  • Valid driver's license.
