Job Summary

The University of Florida seeks a highly skilled Maintenance Supervisor to lead the High-Performance Work Team (HPWT) in maintaining and custodial needs of assigned zones. The successful candidate will ensure proper safety procedures and policies are consistently followed, develop schedules, and assign work to team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, assist, schedule, motivate, and evaluate the HPWT team.
  • Develop and implement schedules, determine work order priorities, and assign work to team members.
  • Inspect ongoing work, assist employees as needed, and ensure proper safety procedures are followed.
  • Use computer systems to requisition supplies, generate project estimates, communicate with employees and customers, and track assets.
  • Maintain and inventory all custodial equipment and machines assigned to the HPWT zone.
  • Regularly communicate with HPWT zone customers to ensure team is meeting their needs and expectations.
  • Provide immediate response and solutions to customer issues during normal working hours.
  • Assign work orders in AiM and charge time as needed.
  • Supervise and assist in skilled work repairs, including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, structures, equipment, and related work.
  • Install ceiling tiles and grid, flooring, lighting, drywall repairs, painting, and other tasks as needed.
  • Supervise and assist in renovation work and repairs to existing structures, including installing or relocating doors, windows, walls, flooring, and other components.
  • Direct and supervise custodial staff employees in cleaning tasks, including sweeping, dusting, dust-mopping, wet-mopping, spot-mopping, emptying, and cleaning waste and water fountains.
  • Conduct regular inspections of custodial work completed and provide feedback to team members.
  • Provide support services and coordinate repair efforts with other trades and contractors as needed.
  • Recommend or initiate employment actions, including interviews, disciplinary actions, promotions, transfers, and reassignments.
  • Conduct quarterly performance reviews of assigned personnel and ensure the HPWT is trained and competent to discharge their duties.
  • Check and approve time for employees on Kronos and perform preventative inspections on buildings, equipment, and entrance doors.
  • Generate monthly preventive maintenance reports and safety training.
Requirements
  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in a recognized trade and relevant experience to total five years.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and five years of relevant experience.
  • Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of the skilled building trades, mechanical, and repair work, safety procedures, and requirements in maintenance and repair work.
  • Skilled in hand tools and equipment.
  • Ability to perform a variety of skilled trade functions, read blueprints and schematic drawings, follow verbal and written instruction, plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments, and work cooperatively in a team environment.
Working Conditions

The normal work schedule is 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Workdays and shift times may vary in response to customer needs for special event coverage and/or departmental needs. Some overtime may be required. The position is considered essential personnel as defined by UF Policy. A criminal background check and post-offer health assessment will be conducted.

Expected salary: $40,040.00 - $41,194 may exceed based on experience.
