Job Summary

The Patient Financial Advisor plays a vital role in ensuring that patients and families receive the financial assistance they need to access quality healthcare services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, navigating complex financial situations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough financial assessments to identify patients' needs and develop personalized plans to secure payment sources, including insurance coverage, Medicaid/Medicare, and other available options.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare providers to resolve financial issues and ensure timely payment of accounts.
  • Update patient account information and demographic data accurately and efficiently, ensuring seamless communication with our team.
  • Determine eligibility for Medicaid or Disability linkage, interpreting patient medical records to identify potential benefits.
  • Negotiate settlements or payment arrangements, and screen for partial or full charity care, completing financial assessment applications and obtaining necessary documents.
  • Work daily to resolve unsecured accounts, taking proactive steps to communicate with patients and families, and utilizing appropriate codes and timeframes.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to walk-in customers and customer service calls with questions and concerns.
  • Process Care Management Team referrals for Sponsorship and maintain accurate documentation in EPIC.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the team and ensure the highest level of patient satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Ability to type 45 wpm.
  • 3 or more years of combined experience in financial advising, claims processing, collections, customer service, or revenue cycle positions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 or more years of experience in Epic.
  • 1 or more years of experience in CPT-4 and HCPCS coding.
  • 1 or more years of experience in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and escalate.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of insurance (commercial and government) and payor websites.
  • Working knowledge of CMS regulations.
