Position Summary:

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) plays a crucial role in overseeing medication management and ensuring quality resident care. The LVN collaborates with the Director of Nursing to establish care standards and manage resident care under physician guidance.

Work Schedule:

Part-Time: Sunday and Monday 6:30 AM - 2:00 PM, Tuesday 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM

Part-Time: Saturday and Sunday 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM, Monday 6:30 AM - 2:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with self-administration of prescribed medications, ensuring compliance with individual medication care records and maintaining organized medication carts for efficiency.
  • Monitor medication inventory, manage expiration dates, and ensure proper storage and disposal of medications in accordance with regulations.
  • Evaluate medication administration processes and report any discrepancies or potential adverse interactions to the Director of Nursing.
  • Support examinations and treatments as directed, while promptly notifying the Director of Nursing of any changes in residents' health status.
  • Assist in scheduling physician appointments and ensure accurate documentation of medication orders.
  • Maintain readiness for emergency situations, providing first aid and CPR as necessary.
  • Ensure accuracy in resident records and documentation, including care notes and incident reports.
  • Conduct assessments of residents' needs and participate in care plan adjustments.
  • Collaborate effectively with residents, families, staff, and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Lead team members in executing emergency procedures during drills and real events.
  • Provide regular updates to the Director of Nursing regarding community and resident conditions.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development activities.
  • Report any signs of elder abuse or neglect in accordance with company policies.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in basic mathematical calculations related to medication dosages and staffing needs.
  • Knowledge of relevant healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Proficient in computer applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and other management systems.

Education and Experience:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals of all ages while maintaining a positive demeanor.
  • Proficient in reading and writing English, with the ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a similar role, preferably in retirement living or home care.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and evenings.
  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • Current LVN licensure.
  • Good physical and mental health, verified by a recent health screening.
  • Criminal background clearance required.
