Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CT Technologist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for operating Computed Tomography (CT) equipment, preparing patients for examination, and ensuring that proper information has been obtained for the physician to make a diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate CT equipment to capture high-quality images of patients
  • Prepare patients for examination by explaining procedures and positioning them on the exam table
  • Ensure that consent forms for IV contrast materials have been obtained and screen for pregnancy
  • Perform CT procedures, including abdominal, thoracic, neurological exams, extremities, sub-periosteal implant planning, radiation therapy treatment planning, biopsies, etc.
  • Collaborate with Radiologists to extend parameters, if needed, within established imaging protocols
  • Utilize special devices to reduce exposure to ionizing radiation of radiosensitive areas
  • Administer intravenous (IV) and oral contrast agents as per Radiologist order and perform venipuncture of the appropriate gauge necessary for examination
  • Explain in layman's terms the administration of IV contrast and complete the IV Contrast Information Sheet with information provided by the patient, family member or health care proxy
  • Recognize and assist in the treatment of contrast agent reactions and IV extravasations
Requirements
  • Vocational or Technical school Diploma required
  • Current License to practice as a Radiologist in New York State
  • Current ARRT Radiology registration required, plus specialized certifications as needed
  • 1-3 years of technical experience required
