Job ResponsibilitiesAs a Physical Therapy Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care. Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing engaging exercises and activities to use during physical therapy sessions with patients;
- Providing counseling and consultations for new patients, their family members, and caregivers;
- Following goals and objectives for patients set by the physical therapist to work toward and identify areas of progress and challenges;
- Assisting physical therapists in direct patient care according to their respective plans of care;
- Preparing equipment and exam room ensuring proper sterilization and safety procedures are followed;
- Reviewing the patient's file prior to their appointment and having a clear understanding of the challenge to be addressed;
- Completing required documentation in a reasonable timely manner;
- Attending continuing education courses and working to advance personal knowledge and experience within the field.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A licensed Physical Therapy Assistant in the State of Texas;
- Proficiency in computer software commonly used for documentation and report preparation;
- An Associate degree in Physical Therapy or a related field;
- Demonstrated knowledge and adherence to HIPAA legislation and other patient privacy laws;
- Experience in working with sensitive and personal patient records and information;
- Proficiency in troubleshooting common software and hardware challenges in relation to regular use of speech pathology tools;
- Physical endurance and the ability to work primarily in a standing position and lift at least 50 lbs;
- A friendly and professional demeanor when interacting with patients, family members, or other staff members;
- Accountability and attention to detail when handling and documenting important medical information.
