Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician plays a vital role in supporting the operational and administrative functions of the pharmacy. This position involves collaborating with the pharmacy team to ensure compliance with established procedures, particularly regarding drug management and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates the receipt, storage, dispensing, and return of pharmaceuticals, serving as a communication link between pharmacy management and clinical teams.
  • Ensures the accuracy of medication labels, assists in dose packaging, and maintains accountability for all medication units in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Contributes to maintaining the highest quality standards for study drug products, ensuring participant safety and study integrity.
  • Assists in the ongoing assessment of training programs for clinic personnel interacting with the pharmacy to ensure adherence to protocols.
  • Supports the completion of sterile technique assessments for all staff members.
  • Engages with sponsors and clients regarding current and prospective studies, clarifying procedures and addressing inquiries related to drug handling and study close-out processes.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned to support pharmacy operations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in aseptic techniques and holds IV certification.
  • Basic proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Able to thrive in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with relevant vocational training.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician.
  • Certification as a pharmacy technician, licensed by the Board of Pharmacy.
  • A combination of education, training, and experience that equips the individual with the necessary knowledge and skills.
  • Prior experience that meets the knowledge and skill requirements for the role, equivalent to at least 6 years, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
