Job Description

**About the Role**

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated External Substitute Teacher Assistant to join our Children Services Department at Special People in the Northeast (SPIN). As an External Substitute, you will have the flexibility to choose your shifts and work at our Frankford Philadelphia & Drummond Road Location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage Children in Developmental Activities: Design and implement engaging activities that stimulate the cognitive, social, and emotional development of preschoolers.
  • Supervise and Ensure Safety: Appropriately supervise children at all times, maintaining a safe and secure environment that promotes their well-being.
  • Assist with Daily Activities: Support children with activities of daily living, such as diapering, restroom use, feeding, and dressing.
  • Facilitate Daily Activities: Help implement curriculum and plan daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for young children.
  • Maintain a Clean and Organized Environment: Create and maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment that promotes learning and development.
  • Establish Rapport with Families: Develop a professional relationship with each family, providing quality care and friendly service.
  • Communicate Effectively: Communicate with the Lead Teacher regarding all aspects of children's care and classroom management.
  • Project a Professional Image: Maintain a professional self-image and project the values of SPIN at all times.

Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Child Development Associate or Early Childhood Education Credits: Preferred but not necessary
  • Experience and Dedication: Ability to work with young children and demonstrate a commitment to their care and development
  • Organizational Skills: Good organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Communication Skills: Clear, pleasant, and courteous communication, both written and oral
  • Covid-19 Vaccination: Required

Expectations:

  • Flexibility: Ability to work between the hours of 7am to 6pm, Monday through Friday
  • Location: Flexibility to work at our Frankford Philadelphia & Drummond Road Location
  • Hours: Ability to work a minimum of 24 hours in a month
