Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified English Adjunct Instructor to join our Transitional Studies department at the State of South Carolina. As an Adjunct Professor of English, you will be responsible for teaching grammar, basic writing skills, and introduction to composition to a diverse student population.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach grammar, basic writing skills, and introduction to composition courses
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans to promote student success and retention
  • Assess student learning and participate in the department's continuous improvement process
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement departmental goals and objectives
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in English or a related field
  • Experience teaching grammar, basic writing skills, and introduction to composition
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in English or a related field
  • 18 graduate semester hours in English, education, language arts, literature, or a related discipline
  • Teaching experience in developmental or adult education
