General Overview and Classification Standards

As a Wastewater Treatment Operator, you will be instrumental in upholding EPA standards and managing the wastewater treatment operations for the Atlanta region. Key responsibilities include operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting the treatment facility to prevent environmental violations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Conduct sampling, monitoring, and testing to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on facility equipment.
  • Respond to emergencies at the wastewater treatment facility.
  • Provide training to others on proper operational and maintenance procedures.

Work Hours and Emergency Response: Be prepared for rotating shifts and emergency response as required.

Decision-Making Responsibilities

Adhere to standardized procedures to complete tasks effectively.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Understanding of wastewater treatment processes and relevant regulations.
  • Ability to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Qualifications

Class III - Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
  • At least 1 year of experience in a wastewater treatment facility or a related field.

Preferred Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a wastewater treatment facility or similar environment.

Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Valid State of Georgia Driver's License.
  • Class III Wastewater License.
  • Forklift Certification and/or Class B CDL are advantageous.
