- Site Preparation: Ensure the ground is prepared and trenches are dug out for pipes.
- Pipe Alignment: Align pipes and seal joints together with cement or gasket joint materials.
- Equipment Operation: Operate equipment such as rollers, loaders, excavators, plate compactors, and jumping jacks.
- Trenching and Excavation: Dig trenches to desired or required depths, by hand or using trenching tools.
- Pipe Repair and Replacement: Install or repair sanitary or stormwater sewer structures or pipe systems.
- Quality Control: Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers.
- Communication: Follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Experience: Minimum 1-year related experience or an equivalent combination of education and training.
- Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently. Valid driver's license. OSHA 30 preferred.
The work environment is outdoors in all weather conditions. The employee will work regularly near heavy equipment and moving machinery. The employee will be exposed to high levels of noise, grease, and dust, typical of a construction project.
