Position: High School Pastor

ABOUT MOUNT ZION BAPTIST CHURCH

Mount Zion Baptist Church is a ministry centered on the Word, committed to reaching the lost, empowering believers, and providing comprehensive ministry both locally and globally. With a membership of 33,000 and an annual growth rate of approximately 2,000, we conduct multiple weekly services across various locations, alongside special events and virtual outreach. Our Senior Pastor, Bishop Joseph W. Walker, III, also serves as the International Presiding Bishop for the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship.

Ideal Candidate: We seek an individual with substantial experience in high school ministry, who demonstrates:

  • A deep commitment to faith in Jesus Christ and a desire to make a meaningful impact.
  • A clear sense of calling to youth ministry, fueled by a passion for serving students.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in youth ministry, complemented by a relevant bachelor's degree.
  • Visionary leadership qualities, with the ability to plan and take calculated risks to positively influence the lives of teens.
  • A commitment to personal growth as a disciple of Jesus Christ, inspiring others to follow suit.
  • Strong communication skills to build rapport with students and excel in teaching and leadership.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The High School Pastor will oversee the spiritual growth, care, and biblical education of teens in grades 9-12, ensuring a safe and effective youth ministry program.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing spiritual guidance and support to high school students in their faith journey.
  • Delivering relevant biblical teachings tailored to the needs of young people.
  • Encouraging personal relationships with God through mentorship and support.
  • Enhancing youth programs through engaging services, Bible studies, and fellowship events.
  • Implementing a system to track and support students' spiritual growth.
  • Representing the church in community and denominational committees.
  • Creating and managing social media content to maintain active communication with youth and families.

Discipleship and Education:

  • Mentoring teens in both individual and group settings.
  • Equipping them with the knowledge to apply their faith in everyday life.

Community Engagement:

  • Fostering an inclusive environment for local youth to connect and grow.
  • Planning social events and community service activities to engage youth.
  • Building a sense of belonging within the church community.
  • Creating mission projects that inspire youth to serve.
  • Keeping parents informed and involved through regular communication.
  • Participating in local school events to strengthen community ties.

Outreach and Evangelism:

  • Developing strategies to reach youth in the local community.
  • Engaging in efforts to share the Christian faith with non-believing youth.
  • Coordinating camps, retreats, and youth trips.

Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Working alongside other church leaders to ensure a unified ministry approach.
  • Encouraging teamwork and support within the youth ministry team.
  • Participating in staff meetings and contributing to the church's mission.
  • Recruiting and training volunteers to assist in youth ministry.
  • Regularly meeting with leadership for planning and team building.

Administrative Duties:

  • Managing the budget and resources for the Youth Ministry.
  • Setting and achieving program goals while evaluating progress.
  • Maintaining accurate records of attendance and participation.
  • Utilizing church systems for tracking metrics and student information.
  • Acting as a liaison between church leadership and high school students.
  • Taking on additional responsibilities as needed.
