This position requires individuals to work outdoors in various weather conditions, assisting patrons of different skill levels with loading and unloading from the lifts. The Ski Lift Operator is essential to the overall success of Catamount Ski Resort LLC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of colleagues and guests, as well as personal safety.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, fostering positive experiences for visitors.
  • Operate assigned ski lifts in compliance with safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Conduct inspections and monitor the condition of lift machinery.
  • Facilitate the safe and courteous loading, seating, and unloading of skiers and snowboarders.
  • Provide necessary physical assistance to guests.
  • Maintain the assigned lift area, including snow removal and surface maintenance.
  • Ensure safe snow levels and walking surfaces around the lift station.
  • Verify that guests possess the appropriate credentials for lift access.
  • Adjust lift speed for safety and emergency situations.
  • Perform daily pre-operational checks to guarantee safe lift operation.
  • Respond to emergencies and accidents, adhering to established procedures.
  • Foster a cooperative working relationship with team members and communicate effectively.
  • Receive daily operational instructions from the Supervisor.
  • Engage in additional physical tasks as required.


Qualifications & Skills

  • Ability to interact harmoniously with a diverse range of individuals, including the public.
  • Strong customer service skills and a passion for working with people.
  • Uniforms are required for employees visible to the public.
  • Proficient in using two-way radios for communication.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Commitment to a drug-free workplace, subject to screening and background checks.
  • Proficiency in reading and speaking English, with the ability to follow simple instructions and respond to inquiries.
  • Capability to maintain written logs, reports, and checklists.

Physical Requirements

This role involves exposure to extreme temperature variations and outdoor weather conditions, including snow and ice. The work environment may include moving mechanical parts and elevated areas. The noise level can be quite loud. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to:

  • Stand for extended periods in cold weather.
  • Bend and lift heavy wet snow.
  • Manipulate objects with hands.
  • Navigate rugged snowy or icy terrain and hike mountain trails.
  • Reach overhead with arms.
  • Lift and/or move objects weighing over 50 pounds.
  • Utilize various types of vision, including close, distance, and peripheral vision.
