Job Summary

Seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Ski & Snowboard Instructor to join our team at Catamount Ski Resort LLC. As a key member of our ski school, you will provide high-quality instruction to guests of all ages and skill levels, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience on the slopes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and informative lessons to groups and individuals, adapting to varying skill levels and ages.
  • Match students with suitable skill level groups and collaborate with supervisors to make adjustments as needed.
  • Provide a supportive and fun learning environment through effective teaching methods, group handling, and creativity.
  • Assist with operational responsibilities, including registration, equipment fitting, and facility maintenance.
  • Attend required meetings and maintain a high level of guest service skills.
  • Communicate lesson content and progress with guests and their parents/guardians as necessary.
  • Make sound decisions based on weather conditions, terrain, and other factors.
  • Achieve and maintain a high level of knowledge and awareness of the environment.
  • Assist guests with equipment transportation and loading/unloading from uphill transportation.
  • Communicate instructions and assist guests to their feet during lessons when necessary.
  • Arrive on time and prepared for all assigned duties.
  • Work cooperatively with staff and other departments to create a safe and positive experience for guests.
  • Supervise children in class at all times and assist with lunch and snack times.
  • Must adhere to Catamount's employment policies and maintain a pleasant temperament when dealing with guests.
  • Attend minimum required training sessions throughout the winter season.
  • Must possess and maintain contemporary equipment, including a Snow Sports specific helmet.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Intermediate or above skier/snowboarder (comfortable skiing on blue trails).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively to groups and individuals.
  • Must work well in a team and be at least 14 years of age prior to the start of the season.
  • Must pass a criminal background check (CORI) and be willing to work long and irregular hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Previous ski/snowboard instruction experience and PSIA/AASI/USSA certification preferred.
  • Prior experience working with children and school groups is also preferred.
