Job Summary

The Indy Gov is seeking a highly motivated and organized Recreational Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing various recreational programs and services at Krannert Park.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and evaluate programs and services, including aquatic, day camp, recreational, and sports programs, special events, and field trips.
  • Schedule classes and assist in leading classes, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for participants.
  • Follow all Indy Gov policies and procedures, maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Interact with community committees and other assigned committees and boards as requested by supervisor.
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, evaluating, and advising on-site personnel, volunteers, and contractors.
  • Supervise all participants' safety while in the program, ensuring a secure environment.
  • Coordinate with managers, regional manager, and risk manager to assess and address safety concerns and ensure a safe experience for all park patrons.
  • Coordinate daily program communications in-house and to the community, maintaining effective communication channels.
  • Work with the Communications team to develop and implement a marketing/promotion plan for promoting programs and events to the surrounding community and appropriate user groups.
  • Utilize various software and technology platforms to organize, document, track, and monitor work, including ActiveNet, InforPS, Microsoft Office Suite, Peoplesoft, NeoGov, and WebEx.
  • Support managing customer service relations at the park location, including all forms of communication with the public and marketing of programs and services.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times, adhering to Indy Gov's confidentiality policies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Physical Education, Recreation Administration, or a related field is preferred. One (1) year of related work experience may be substituted for each year of formal education.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be self-motivated and dependable, with the ability to plan and organize events and meetings, including agendas and timelines.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet various deadlines is a must.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
  • Must be customer service oriented, with a strong commitment to providing excellent service to the public.
  • Must have knowledge of work processing software, such as Word, Excel, and Publisher.
Licenses/Certifications
  • Valid Indiana operator's license is required.
  • Ability to obtain NYSCA Clinician Certification and prefer CPRP (Certified Parks & Recreation Professional) CPR and First Aid Certificate.
Independent Judgment

Established policies and procedures control actions. The incumbent is required to exercise occasional independent judgment when there are no available policies and procedures, and errors in judgment may cause inconsistencies and inconveniences as well as regulatory and budgetary problems.

Ability to recognize the need for intervention with any aspect of the program and to notify the immediate supervisor accordingly is critical.
